Product Review: Stila “Eyes Are The Window” Palette in “Soul”

I’ve had my eye on the Stila “In the Light” palette for over a year now, but I have yet to be able to find it in any Sephora store! Equipped with a birthday gift card to Sephora, I went to the Stila section and discovered three new gorgeous eyeshadow palettes in the “Eyes Are the Window” series. I saw the one called “Soul,” and it seemed like the perfect neutral eyeshadow palette. I really wanted a palette with Stila’s signature eyeshadow in “Kitten,” and when I saw it listed on the back, I was immediately sold.

The finish is gold on top and rose gold on the bottom, and I like the three rose gold S’s on the top to signify the three palettes in the range. It’s small and compact and just feels nice in the palm of your hand. The entire upper lid is a mirror, which is much larger than most mirrors you find in small eyeshadow palettes. It has a magnetic closure, so you know it will be secure if you travel with it.

The eyeshadows themselves are beautiful. It has everything you need in an everyday eyeshadow palette: a matte and shimmery highlight, two matte transition colors for warmer or cooler shadow looks, a matte dark brown and matte black for that essential smokey eye, and several shimmery, metallic shades that are unique and complement the others perfectly.

IMG_3456_edited-1IMG_3474_edited-1I’ve had the palettes for two weeks now, and I’ve worn it nearly every day to school, to work, and out at night. I have never tried the shadows without a primer, but my eyeshadow tends to crease on me no matter what, and I’d prefer the extra security of a primer below any eyeshadow look (I use the Urban Decay Primer Potion in “Eden”).

I would completely recommend this palette for anyone who is looking for that perfect everyday neutral palette. It has everything you could possibly need for a variety of looks and is more versatile, in my opinion, than my Naked palettes from Urban Decay (though I do love those as well). It retails for $49, a nice $5 less than the Urban Decay Naked palettes that also have 12 eyeshadow shades. You can find it at Sephora and Ulta, where Stila cosmetics are sold.
