Something’s Gotta Give

1

I am only three weeks into the new school year and I’ve painfully discovered that unfortunately, I just can’t do it all. I had ambitious goals for what I wanted to do my senior year and it didn’t take me long to figure out I bit off more than I can chew. I admire those people who can go go go constantly and not run out of steam, but as a true introvert, I need downtime in order to reflect and destress on a daily basis. After deciding I had to let something go, I feel as though a huge weight is lifted off my shoulders.

My parents taught me to never be a quitter, much to my frustration for many things I didn’t want to do as a kid. But now that I’m an adult I appreciate that attitude they instilled in me, even though it made it a lot more difficult to accept that something had to give. I am much happier now that I’ve learned my lesson: Mia, you can’t do everything.

I particularly liked the quote, so I put it in a graphic as inspiration for the rest of September. I know it’s cheesy, but sometimes coming across a phrase or saying that really captures what you need to here is just enough motivation to keep going. If you’re going through new school year stress like me or just having a hard time, here are a few more quotes to get you through the battle.

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” – Confucious

“If it’s both terrifying and amazing then you should definitely pursue it.” -Erada

“Learn how to take criticism seriously, but not personally.” -Hillary Clinton

“You can do anything, but not everything.” -David Allen

“In the end, what you do isn’t nearly as interesting or important as who you do it with.” -John Green
